Culture

There are many opportunities to take part in cultural activities. Poppleton has various clubs such as the Poppleton Arts Club , the History Society and  the WEA classes. Most classes are by annual subscription. Many offer the opportunity to attend on an ad hoc basis by payment at the door.  A recent addition to the various cultural groups is the family film night that runs mostly during the winter.  The evening is always entertaining and if you want you can book a snack meal at the Social, the Poppleton Centre bar and cafe. You can also purchase alcohol and soft drinks to enjoy during your evening of entertainment with the film show.

The Moat field is the site of the Anglo-Saxon houses that stood in the village before the Doomsday Book was written.

The village also boast a Roman Road and Ferry crossing point in Nether Poppleton although sadly no longer in use.
