Upper Poppleton Greens – tree work

Every five years the Parish Council commissions a tree survey. This enables the Council to find out if any trees are becoming a danger to the public or are diseased. It also satisfies the Parish Council’s insurance provider.

This year the survey revealed that eight trees needed to be crown lifted and two needed to be felled.

All the trees are in the Upper Poppleton Conservation Area so permission to carry out the work had to be given by the City Council.

The Councillors agreed that the necessary work should be commissioned and, after the proper tender process, the contract was award to Lewis Tree Surgery who applied for planning permission from the City Council. Although approval was received back in March 2024 the work had to be delayed until the end of the bird nesting season.

The work was carried on 28 August 2024.

The felled trees will be replaced during the 2024-2025 tree planting season.
